Colorado: America's Highest Wine Country

Most people don't think of Colorado when they think of American wine.

They think of mountain peaks. Ski resorts. Aspen. Hiking trails.

That's exactly why we went.

Beyond the Rockies lies one of the most fascinating wine regions in the United States—where vineyards climb between 4,000 and 7,000 feet above sea level, ancient marine soils shape every vine, and more than 300 days of sunshine create wines unlike anywhere else in the world.

I traveled through Colorado's Grand Valley to meet the winemakers, walk the vineyards, and discover what makes this region so special. What I found was a community of passionate growers choosing one of the most challenging places in America to make wine and producing bottles that beautifully express the landscape around them.

High altitude means intense sunshine, cool nights, and grapes that ripen slowly while preserving remarkable freshness and complexity. Dry desert conditions reduce disease pressure, allowing many growers to farm with minimal intervention. But nature doesn't make it easy. Spring frosts, summer hailstorms, and a short growing season mean every vintage is earned through careful hands-on farming.

These are wines with personality.

They reflect the place they come from, the people who grow them, and the challenges that shaped them.

Join us as we explore one of America's most overlooked wine regions through a guided tasting featuring hand-selected Colorado wines, the stories behind the bottles, and the remarkable terroir that makes this region unlike any other.

Because sometimes the best wine discoveries happen where nobody thinks to look.
